The aim of this site is to offer a scientific explanation for human religious behaviour.

Central to this is the ‘default hypothesis for religious behaviour’.

This hypothesis proposes that we are - and that we are not - religious by nature.  That is, that we are born with a capacity to accept a religion but that we have a default state to fall back on if we do not ‘find’ religion.

I will endeavour to support this hypothesis with the scientific arguments upon which is it based.

If this ‘default hypothesis’ is close to the truth then it may do much to explain a broad spectrum of human behaviour /psychology.
